Catherine Craig

First Violin

Catherine Craig, violinist and homoeopathist, began her musical studies at the age of 12 in Rockford, Illinois. She graduated from the Mannes College of Music in New York City and graduated with a Masters degree in Music from the Manhattan School of Music.

She left the USA and worked with many international orchestras before joining the London Philharmonic Orchestra in 1994. Her special interests include collecting, performing, recording and publishing rare out-of-print violin music. Catherine performs her unique and rare repertoire of American classics from the 1930s and 40s in her ensemble The Manhattan Duo. They play original violin and piano arrangements of the great composers from this era such as Richard Rogers, George Gershwin, Hoagey Carmichael, Arthur Schwartz and Cole Porter. She also leads the String Circle Ensemble, who play Baroque music – primarily concerti grossi – in Barnes, London.
