Cassandra Hamilton

Cassandra joined the LPO in January 2023.

At the age of four, Cassandra began learning the violin in her hometown of Buxton with Patricia Curteis. At the age of 13 she became a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, becoming Co-Leader in her final year, and later went on to join the European Union Youth Orchestra.

A scholarship student at both the Purcell School of Music and then at the Royal Academy of Music, Cassandra completed her undergraduate and Master’s degrees under the tutelage of Richard Deakin and Maurice Hasson. During her time at the Academy she performed in masterclasses with Maxim Vengerov and the late Thomas Brandis, was a member of the prestigious Royal Academy Soloists directed by Clio Gould, and was a CAVATINA Chamber Music Fellow.

Since graduating in 2013, Cassandra has worked with most British orchestras including the BBC Symphony, City of Birmingham Symphony, London Symphony and Philharmonia orchestras.

Cassandra enjoys chamber music in all forms: she was a founding member of the Bernadel Quartet, and performs regularly with the Aurora Orchestra, Manchester Camerata, and as a member of the Artesian Quartet.

Away from music, Cassandra enjoys being outdoors: cycling, hiking and horse riding, which she has done since the age of seven, competing in dressage competitions for a number of years.
