Nynke Hijlkema
Second Violin
Born in Holland, Nynke studied the violin at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. She then studied chamber music at the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne with the Alban Berg Quartet.
As a chamber musician Nynke has won first prize at the Charles Hennen International Chamber Music Competition (Holland), the ‘Prix de la Sacem’ at the International String Quartet Competition of Bordeaux (France), and the AVRO prize in the ‘Vriendenkrans’ Competition of the ouw, Amsterdam (Holland).
Nynke has freelanced with various orchestras in the UK and Holland, and joined the London Philharmonic Orchestra in 2003.
