Key Stage 1 BrightSparks Resources: The Snail and the Whale
In this resources pack, designed for Key Stage 1 teachers, you will find all you need to prepare your pupils for, or work with them in response to, the LPO's Key Stage 1 BrightSparks concert in March 2025. This concert features the Magic Light Pictures film 'The Snail and the Whale,' based on the book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.
With extra information about the orchestra, music, and story and theme for the concert, this resource pack, created by concert presenter Lucy Hollins and the London Philharmonic Orchestra, includes suggestions for classroom activities and tips for teaching the participation songs.
Teachers who did not attend the concert will still find this resource pack useful for delivering lessons about orchestral music or ‘The Snail and the Whale’ in many areas of the curriculum, including music, literacy and art.
Included in this pack is a link to the participation songs on YouTube.
We would love to see any work your children create using these resources! If you’d like to share this with us, send it to [email protected]
