LPO Junior Artists: Overture Day April 2026 – Eastbourne

If you’re aged 10–15 and Grade 3+ standard on your orchestral instrument, come and join London Philharmonic Orchestra musicians at our free LPO Junior Artists: Overture Day on Sunday 12 April 2026 at Ratton School in Eastbourne.

What to expect

LPO Junior Artists: Overture days are free, fun orchestral skills days where participants play alongside LPO musicians, get tips on musicianship and find out what happens behind the scenes of a professional orchestra. On this Overture day we will play a varied selection of music, including Georges Bizet’s Farandole from L’Arlesienne Suite, Soon Hee Newbold’s Gravitas, and the television theme ‘Thunderbirds March’ from Thunderbirds, by Barry Gray – arr. Richard Ling. Our conductor will be Susanna Riddell.

Please note that applications are also open for our next Overture days in London (Monday 30 March) and Worthing (Thursday 2 April). Young musicians will only be invited to attend one of these Overture days.

Where and when?

The day will take place on Sunday 12 March at Ratton School, Park Ave, Eastbourne, BN21 2XR from 11am – 4.30pm. At 4pm there will be a performance showcasing the pieces we have explored, which will be open to friends and family.

Who and how to apply

For this Overture day we will prioritise applicants from backgrounds which are underrepresented in UK professional orchestras. Please see below for further details.

Please note that we cannot accept applications from pianists, harpists or saxophonists.
