Key Stage 1 BrightSparks Resources: The Colour Monster

In this article you will find all you need to prepare your children for, or work with them in response to, the LPO's Key Stage 1 BrightSparks concert on 8 February 2023. This concert is based on 'The Colour Monster' by Anna Llenas, published by Templar Books.

With extra information about the orchestra, music, and theme for the concert, this resource pack, created by concert presenter Lucy Hollins and the London Philharmonic Orchestra, includes suggestions for classroom activities and tips for teaching the participation song, ‘Wonderful You.’

Teachers who did not attend the concert will still find this resource pack useful for delivering lessons about orchestral music or ‘The Colour Monster’ in many areas of the curriculum, including music, literacy and art.

Included in this pack is a link to the participation song on Soundcloud. If your school blocks Soundcloud and you need an MP3 file of the song, please contact [email protected]

We would love to see any work your children create using these resources! If you’d like to share this with us, please send it to  [email protected]
