Key Stage 2 BrightSparks Resources: Petrushka

In this resources pack, designed for Key Stage 2 teachers, you will find all you need to prepare your pupils for, or work with them in response to, the LPO's Key Stage 2 BrightSparks concert featuring 'Petrushka' by Igor Stravinsky.

With extra information about the orchestra, music, and theme for the concert, the resource pack below, created by concert presenter Rachel Leach and the London Philharmonic Orchestra, includes suggestions for classroom activities and tips for teaching the participation song, ‘Mr Cheadle’s Menagerie.’ It also includes some background information on Stravinsky and the other repertoire performed in the concert, as well as our exclusive Petrushka images created by YeastCulture.

Teachers who did not attend the concert will still find this resource pack useful for delivering lessons about orchestral music or Petrushka.

Participation Song: Mr Cheadle’s Menagerie

We encourage you to learn the audience participation song before coming to the concert. The words will be shown on the big screen so no need to memorise them! You can listen to the participation song on Soundcloud.

We would love to see any work your children create using these resources! If you’d like to share this with us, please send it to [email protected]
