After Dark: 200 Years of ZSL
The music
- Walton Roaring Fanfare
The performers
- London Philharmonic Orchestra brass and percussion players
Celebrate ZSL’s 200th anniversary with a special After Dark performance by the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s brass and percussion players.
Following the Orchestra’s performance of Saint-Saëns’s The Carnival of the Animals earlier in the evening, the post-concert performance opens with a stately fanfare by William Walton, written 50 years ago for ZSL’s 150th anniversary. The players then embark on a lively sonic safari through Chris Hazell’s The Cats Suite, before raising a festive final toast with Goff Richards’s Homage to the Noble Grape.
After the music, keep the night going with the Zooniversity Challenge — a special late-night quiz celebrating ZSL’s anniversary. Hosted by London Zoo presenters Maisie Collier and Ralph Stickley, this light-hearted post-performance game invites you to test your knowledge of wildlife and music, with curious facts, playful questions, and prizes to be won.
In collaboration with ZSL.
