The London Philharmonic Orchestra perform with Principal Guest Conductor Karina Canellakis and pianist Daniil Trifonov on tour.

When Trifonov plays, time seems to stand still. Arising from the silence, his playing is outstanding and insightful, never predictable, but always rooted in the essence of the music.

If proof was needed that he counts among the most admired artists of our time, it came at the world premiere of Mason Bates’ Piano Concerto in Philadelphia in January 2022, about which Bachtrack wrote: “Trifonov and the orchestra tapped ideas across an invisible musical tennis net and intertwined themes with the sleek grace of snakes in a caduceus.”

In Munich, Daniil Trifonov will play Sergei Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No 3. First performed in 1921 in Chicago by the composer himself on the piano, the concerto still enjoys great popularity today and is one of Trifonov’s showpieces. The conductor for the London Philharmonic’s guest performance will be the Karina Canellakis. It was Sir Simon Rattle, no less, who discovered the young New York violinist during her time as a scholarship student with the Berlin Philharmonic and encouraged her to commit more of her time to conducting. Since 2020, Canellakis has been principal guest conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and is in demand on the podiums of renowned orchestras and opera houses in the USA, Europe, Asia and Australia.
