Sumptuous harmonies, high-drama, and virtuosic violin. A night of Vaughan Williams, Saint-Saëns, and Dvořák at Taipei's National Concert Hall, featuring rising star William Wei.

Our second performance in Taipei begins with Vaughan Williams’s Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis – a shimming string work which celebrates the English Renaissance, weaving together melodies from the 16th century and the rich harmonies of the 20th. William Wei then joins the Orchestra for his take on Saint-Saëns’s thrilling Third Violin Concerto – critics promise a performance that is simply ‘superb’. In Dvořák’s brooding, impassioned symphony, the cross rhythms of Bohemia’s peasant dances are underpinned by a melancholy undertow – join us as Principle Conductor Edward Gardner draws out the tension and drama at the heart of this magnificent work.
