Helen Storey

Helen joined the London Philharmonic Orchestra as Sub-Principal Bassoon in February 2024.

Helen grew up in Devon before moving to London to study at The Purcell School, the Royal Academy of Music, and a year in Vienna on an Erasmus exchange scholarship. She was a member of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra from 2001-24, before joining the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

Helen is also a member of the Galliard Ensemble, a former BBC New Generation Artist group, who have performed throughout the UK and Europe since 1993. She has been teaching at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama since 2010, and when she has time off from the bassoon she relaxes with her family, two cats, and dog Cookie.
