Pitch Me Classical, the latest podcast series from the London Philharmonic Orchestra, launches 28 November 2024
The London Philharmonic Orchestra has announced the launch of a brand-new podcast. From 28 November 2024, host YolanDa Brown will be joined by players from the LPO to pitch their thoughts on some of classical music’s most-asked questions, in an attempt to get to the bottom of the most contentious conundrums.
From debating whether certain orchestral traditions should still exist, to asking what makes classical music still relevant in the 21st century, MOBO Award-winning saxophonist and presenter YolanDa and featured LPO players will tackle some of classical music’s most controversial topics in each episode.
Pitch Me Classical puts LPO players in the hot seat with the big questions up for debate. In the first episode, ‘Is Mozart the G.O.A.T.?’, audiences will hear Orchestra Co-Leader and First Violin, Alice Ivy-Pemberton, and Principal Trombone, Mark Templeton’s opinions on why when the majority are asked to name a classical composer, Mozart is the first name that comes to mind.
New episodes will be added regularly and cover audiences’ burning questions including ‘Does all classical music really all sound the same?’ and ‘Should we be ditching bow ties?’. Listeners can add to the conversation and pose their own hot topics for debate via social media.
Listen to and follow Pitch Me Classical wherever you get your podcasts.
