Lucia Ortiz Sauco

Lucia joined the LPO Viola section in April 2023.

Lucia was born in Spain and started playing the viola at the age of eight. She graduated from the Royal College of Music in London and completed Master’s studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. Since then, she has lived in both Berlin and London, and has worked with many orchestras across Europe and the UK.

Lucia is also passionate about period performance and enjoys playing with a number of early music groups.

As a result of her interest in music education as a way of cultural development, Lucia has taken part in education projects as far afield as South America and Africa over the last few years, and hopes to continue her engagement with projects of this kind, having completed a Masters in Arts Innovation and Community Development.
