Gramophone Orchestra of the Year Nomination
Mon 12 Jun, 2023
We are absolutely thrilled to have been nominated for Gramophone magazine’s 2023 Orchestra of the Year award!
We love performing for our audiences and sharing wonder through the power of orchestral music in the concert hall, online and through our recordings on the LPO Label.
As the winner is decided by public vote, we would really appreciate your support! The voting period is open now and runs from 12 June to 7 September with the outcome being announced in the autumn. If you would like to vote for us, please do so here.
This is the sixth year the award has run, and it is a celebration of the chemistry and magic that happens when a world-class orchestra encounters a conductor of personality and musical vision. After a difficult few years when live music fell silent, it is also a celebration of the crucial role orchestras play in society.
The past year saw the release, amongst others, of Tippett’s The Midsummer Marriage, our first recording with Edward Gardner as Principal Conductor. The LPO and Gardner opened his first season in post with the work.
We are delighted to have been nominated alongside 9 other incredible orchestras.
Thank you so much for this nomination, Gramophone, and to everyone who votes for us!
