





Heeyeon Cho
Cello
Heeyeon joined the LPO in May 2026.
Heeyeon Cho is a Korean-British cellist who pursues a varied career as a soloist, chamber musician
and orchestral player. She studied at The Purcell School with Natalia Pavlutskaya and continued her
studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London under David Strange, graduating with both
Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees and being awarded the DipRAM.
As a soloist, she has performed recitals across the UK and abroad, including in Belgium, Korea and
New Zealand, and was awarded First Prize at the Liezen International Cello Competition in Austria.
She has taken part in masterclasses with renowned artists such as Mischa Maisky and Natalia
Gutman, and has also performed in the Kronberg Cello Masterclasses.
Alongside her solo work, Heeyeon has worked with many UK orchestras and has appeared as Guest
Principal with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and BBC National Orchestra of
Wales. She is also a deeply committed chamber musician and a co-founding member of the Halcyon
Quartet, with whom she continues to perform regularly.
Beyond her cello life, Heeyeon enjoys attending non-classical music gigs and is a keen enthusiast of
arts and crafts.
