In July 2023 our five LPO Young Composers debuted five new pieces, each taking inspiration from a different art form.
The performances were conducted by Brett Dean, LPO Composer-in-Residence and mentor for the Young Composers programme, who guided the composers through the composition process over the course of the year.
Filmed at the Southbank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth Hall, these works were performed by an ensemble comprising LPO players and Foyle Future First musicians, in a concert entitled Where to Begin?
The Young Composers and works featured are:

- Zakiya Leeming – Eagle in the Ropes
- Philip Dutton – Etched
