Benedetto Pollani

Viola

Born in Verona, Benedetto began his musical education on guitar with his father, a rock guitarist. He then began to learn the violin aged 14, converting to the viola when he was 17. Benedetto studied at the Reggio Emilia Conservatoire with Giorgio Bar and Angelo Bartoletti, and in Cremona with Wilhelmus Janssen.

Prior to joining the London Philharmonic Orchestra in 2000, Benedetto worked as a freelance musician with the major London orchestras, as well as continuing his collaboration with the Toscanini Orchestra and the Orchestra del Teatro Regio di Parma, in Italy. He still has diverse interests in various musical styles, dating back to his early musical education.

This interest has seen him frequently performing in eclectic concerts with the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s Renga ensemble and with Italian drummer Francesco Giungato and his group in Italy, working with musicians from outside the classical tradition.
