Desmond Cecil CMG

Desmond was a professional violinist/oboist in Switzerland in his youth, having studied with Professors Max Rostal and Joy Boughton.

He then joined HM Diplomatic Service (1970–95), serving in Embassies abroad, and was appointed CMG by The Queen. He took early retirement to work as an international political/funding consultant, and became the UK Representative of AREVA.

He serves on various boards and trusts, including the Felix-Mendelssohn-Bartholdy Foundation Leipzig, Menuhin Festival Gstaad, Queen’s College Oxford (Distinguished Friend of Oxford University Award) and the Athenæum Club.
