Sue Sutherley
Cello (Associate Member)
Sue Sutherley read Music at St Anne’s College, Oxford, before going on to postgraduate study at the Royal College of Music.
She joined the BBC Symphony Orchestra in the 1970s under Pierre Boulez, and then freelanced for many years while her children were growing up. She was Sub-Principal Cello in the BBC’s Langham Chamber Orchestra and various other chamber orchestras, as well as playing regularly with many other London orchestras including the London Sinfonietta, the English Chamber Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House.
Sue started playing with the London Philharmonic Orchestra in 1987, and joined the Orchestra in September 1996. She has also had a private teaching practice for the last 25 years.
