Ting-Ru Lai

Ting-Ru Lai joined the London Philharmonic Orchestra as No. 4 Viola in January 2019. She was formerly Principal Viola at the Ensemble Esperanza, and has also played as as Guest Principal with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra and Sinfonieorchester Liechtenstein.

Born in Taiwan, Ting-Ru holds an Artist Diploma from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, and previously graduated from the New England Conservatory in Boston and Mannes School of Music in New York.

She has won top prizes in the Croydon Concerto Competition, Queens Young Artist Competition, National Taiwan Viola Competition and Guan-Du Rising Stars Competition.
