Elgar: The Legacy (Vol. 4) completes this LPO series with two prolific years of Elgar recordings from 1954 and 1955, all conducted by Sir Adrian Boult, including a never before release Cockaigne Overture from the inaugural concert of the newly commissioned Royal Festival Hall organ. Boult’s close association with the LPO endured until his retirement in 1978, with many acclaimed Elgar recordings across the 1960s and 1970s to their credit.

The release is accompanied by annotations authored by Andrew Neill, former Chairman of the Elgar Society (1992-2008).
