Julian Anderson, one of the leading British composers of his generation, has a strong affinity with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and was Composer in Residence from 2010–14. This collection is a celebration of his tenure: In lieblicher Bläue, (‘In lovely blueness’) was inspired by an elusive poem of the same name by Friedrich Hölderlin; the Orchestra is joined by the London Philharmonic Choir for Alleluia, composed for the 2007 re-opening of the Royal Festival Hall, London; and a huge orchestral soundworld celebrates folk customs across Britain in The Stations of the Sun.
