





Hannah Grayson
Sub-Principal Flute
Hannah joined the LPO in March 2026.
Hannah began learning the flute aged eight with peripatetic teacher Andrew Norris in Fleet, later joining the North East Hampshire Wind Band and Symphony Orchestra.
At the age of 11, she joined the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain and attended the Junior Royal Academy of Music, where she learnt with Anna Pope. She went on to study at the Purcell School for Young Musicians at the age of 15, as well as becoming a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain for three years, where she played Principal Flute in her final year.
Hannah commenced her BMus studies as a Foundation Scholar at the Royal College of Music in 2006 with professors Jaime Martín, Simon Channing, Katie Bedford and Stewart McIlwham (piccolo). Following this, she completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Orchestral Specialism at the Royal College of Music, graduating in 2011 with First Class Honours. During her studies, Hannah received additional orchestral training from the London Symphony Orchestra St. Luke’s Woodwind Academy (2007), the London Sinfonietta Academy (2011), and the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s Future Firsts programme (2011).
Hannah has performed professionally with the Orchestra of The Royal Ballet & Opera, London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of English National Opera, Orchestra of English National Ballet, Royal Ballet Sinfonia, BBC Philharmonic, Britten Sinfonia, City of London Sinfonia, Opera North, Royal Northern Sinfonia, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, and for West End shows as well as sessions for Isobel Griffiths and the National Film and Television School. Further afield, she has played with the Bergen Symphony Orchestra in Norway.
Hannah was proud to become a member of the London Philharmonic Orchestra in 2026, having played with them for many years as a freelancer.
In her free time, Hannah loves arts & crafts, gardening, walking or running in the countryside and being by the sea.
