In July 2025 our five LPO Young Composers debuted thrilling new works on the theme of memory, working with talented poets from Southbank Centre's New Poets Collective, all under the mentorship of the award-winning LPO Composer-in-Residence, Tania León.
Filmed at Queen Elizabeth Hall in London’s Southbank Centre, these works were performed at our Debut Sounds: Memory Palace concert by an ensemble comprising members of the LPO and participants on the Foyle Future First Development Programme, under the baton of LPO Fellow Conductor Juya Shin.
The Young Composers and works featured are:

- Joy Nkoyo – Tamessa
- Jorge Ramos – SOHO
The poets and works featured are:
- Johanna Gibson – Kingfisher Cay
- Pẹlúmi Obasaju – The Soul of Memory
- Erica Hesketh – Flood
- Gayathiri Kamalakanthan – Dad Loved the Water
- William Wyld – Something’s Burning
