In July 2026 our five LPO Young Composers debuted thrilling new works inspired by Romanian sculptor Constantin Brâncuși under the mentorship of LPO Composer-in-Residence, Sir George Benjamin.
Filmed at Queen Elizabeth Hall in London’s Southbank Centre, these works were performed at our Debut Sounds: Hidden Realities concert by an ensemble comprising members of the LPO and participants on the Future First Development Programme, under the baton of William Cole.
The Young Composers and works featured are:
- Michael Taplin – Arcus
- Margot Pommellet – Etude pour un oiseau de bronze
- George Stevenson – Leda
- Edward Mascall-Robson – Socle
- Seyoung Oh – Beginning of the world
The video playlist features an introduction from Sir George Benjamin, followed by all five new pieces, each introduced by its composer. Watch the full playlist on Youtube.
