Explore the first movement of Mozart's famous Horn Concerto No.4 - a set work on the CCEA GCSE Music syllabus.

After performing the fourth movement of Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 4 in our GCSE BrightSparks concert in November 2023, we have compiled some resources to help you teach, learn about, and revise this piece, which is a set work for the CCEA GCSE Music syllabus and is also relevant to areas of study on the Edexcel, AQA, OCR and WJEC/Eduqas exam boards.

Download the PowerPoint presentation or PDF file below to find out more about the history, structure, and musical elements of this piece, and watch our video featuring LPO Principal Horn player John Ryan to learn more about the French Horn.

LPO Principal French Horn player John Ryan explains how he plays the French Horn, what it’s like to perform Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 4, and what type of horn Mozart would have composed for in the eighteenth century.

This resource was created by Rachel Leach and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
