Join Principle Conductor Edward Gardner and world-renowned pianist Hélène Grimaud for a programme of Brahms in Frankfurt's Alte Oper.
Johannes Brahms long felt he composed in the shadow of Beethoven’s success and spent the best years of his youth perfecting his First Symphony. The resulting work was certainly worth the 21 year wait: an epic emotional autobiography that begins with the pounding of a heart in torment and ends with a hymn of triumph – and a tune you’ll never forget.
Brahms’s First Piano Concerto is equally as emotive, in turns anguished, tranquil, and defiant, and is performed by the LPO’s long-standing friend, Hélène Grimaud.
